Wen Hong graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Biochemistry (Hons) degree from the University of Queensland. He subsequently carried out research on yeast genetics in the Institute of Molecular Cell Biology for over a year before moving to the National Cancer Center Singapore (NCCS) undertake cancer research on tumor suppressor p73 role in carcinogenesis. During his six years of research with NCCS, Wen Hong won the Singapore Millennium Foundation Scholarship to pursue his PhD and the 2006 Singhealth scientific meeting best scientific poster award. His research work has also been presented in both international and national scientific conferences. In addition, Wen Hong has several publications in internationally peer reviewed journals, including Nature Cell Biology, Journal of Biological Chemistry and Nucleic Acid Research. Wen Hong has particular technical expertise and work experience in the biomedical research area that includes fluorescence imaging, flow cytometry, animal genetic modifications and gene silencing. At ECSF, Wen Hong is involved in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in areas relating to biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and chemistry inventions.
