Kristian is a Director of the firm and a Principal of our associated Australian firm, Spruson & Ferguson. Kristian is based permanently in Singapore where he is Head of the Chemical & Life Sciences group.
Kristian's practice primarily involves the preparation, drafting and prosecution of patent applications, advice in relation to patent validity and enforcement, patent strategy, patent revocation actions, and patent infringement advice, predominantly in the fields of chemistry, biochemistry, nanotechnology, renewable energy, materials science, and process engineering. Kristian has considerable experience in patent revocation practice before the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and successfully represented the Applicant for revocation in the inaugural revocation proceedings before IPOS. Kristian is also involved in advising clients in connection with patent litigation actions in the Singapore High Court.
Prior to joining the firm, Kristian worked for several years in the patent group of one of Australia's major law firms. He has also worked for a firm of patent agents in the United Kingdom.
Kristian is a qualified Singapore Patent Agent and a qualified Australian and New Zealand Patent Attorney. His technical qualifications include a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Hons) degree from Curtin University of Technology and a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) degree from Murdoch University.
Kristian is currently serving as the Vice-President of the Association of Singapore Patent Agents and a Fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Marks Attorneys of Australia. Kristian is also a member of the Patent Examination Committee of the Board of Patent Examiners of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, and is involved in the setting and marking of the examination papers for candidates seeking qualification as Singapore Patent Agents.
