Gary was awarded a scholarship by a leading American Multinational Corporation to pursue Electrical Engineering at the National University of Singapore where he graduated with a Bachelor in Engineering with honours majoring in communications technology. He also spent 2 semesters at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London, UK, as part of the Student Exchange Programme.

Gary is also experienced in the areas of integrated circuit design, silicon processing, as well as failure analysis, having spent three years in the capacity of Product Engineer where he was responsible for new product startups and yield improvement of electronics manufacturing. He was also seconded to the headquarters in the US, where he assisted in new product development and was responsible for the transfer of new product technologies to the Singapore facility.
