Martin specialises in molecular biology and biotechnology. His practice primarily involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as considerable involvement in patent opposition matters, predominantly in the fields of biotechnology and biochemistry. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree with First Class Honours, majoring in biochemistry and genetics, Martin was awarded a PhD from the University of Sydney. He undertook postdoctoral research at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney, investigating the genetics of alcohol metabolism and alcohol dependence.
